Outstanding Music Provision
We are delighted to have been awarded with our Music Mark for another year. This is awarded by Kent Music School in recognition of outstanding music provision. We have been commended for our rich, exciting, high-quality and engaging music curriculum and the additional musical experiences we provide for all children. The Music Mark celebrates schools that also influence others in understanding the important contribution that music makes in every school and makes established relationships with professionals within the music sector and the wider community of music educators.
St Alphege is proud to offer an exceptional music curriculum for all children, delivered by highly specialist teaching staff. We also use music as a vehicle to drive other subjects for example, you will see composition used to support storytelling and singing used in all parts of the curriculum. We offer a range of tuition in both groups and individually, so your child will have many opportunities to begin their journey into learning an instrument. The school also has a strong choir and teaches ukulele, ocarina and djembe drumming to all children during their time at the school.
We are honoured to have been invited to join the Kent and Medway Lead Schools Advisory Group for music. Kent Music work closely with schools, colleges, cultural organisations and other partners to ensure that children and young people across Kent and Medway have access to high quality music education in and out of school. We are delighted to have been successful in being asked to join the Lead Schools Advisory Group, which has been set up to support the Hub’s strategic thinking and approach to supporting music making activities in schools across Kent and Medway. This is a wonderful opportunity and a huge achievement for the school. It is a further acknowledgement of our strength, commitment and passion for Music and Creativity. We are looking forward to working alongside the Hub to help shape the vision for the Lead Schools Advisory Group and hope to be able to inspire other schools to embrace a rich and inspiring Music offer for young people across Kent and Medway. We are the first primary school in the South East to have joined the group and are excited about being a part of this new venture alongside the music hub.
